Here we signpost to some of the other organisations that we have encountered during our charity’s life. The list is not exhaustive and if you know of other sites that we should include please contact us. Please note that all the links on this page will open up in a new tab.
Vision of Adventure only offers courses for visually impaired adults. If you are seeking outdoor activities but have other or additional disabilities then please visit Bendrigg Trust.
Similarly Gateway Wheelers based in Darlington and Houghton-le-Spring for cycling for disabled persons.
Vision of Adventure might do the occasional walk when bad weather or something prevents another activity. But if you want to contact an organisation where walking is the main activity then please contact sense adventures or try the Milton Mountaineers (email David Carrington Porter at firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you fancy a go at Surfing in Cornwall then try the St Ives surf school. We’ve had good reports from one of our VI’s and they have recently won an inclusivity award!
Look-uk.org is a helpful organisation for younger visually impaired people. They occasionally have activity holidays available – in June 2019 they have Tall Ship sailing in Scotland.
There are a number of Tandem clubs for the visually impaired:
- Talking Tandems in Fife, Scotland.
- Twos-company in Bristol.
- Bury Tandem Club in Bury, Lancashire.
- Tandem Trekkers in Huddersfield.
The site to go to obtain information about any sport is British Blind Sport.

BUY/BORROW/HIRE A TANDEM
Want to borrow a tandem for a few weeks to try it out? If so, have you visited Charlottes tandems?
Like tandem cycling so much that you want to buy your own tandem? There are quite a few tandem manufacturers in the UK but have you considered J.D. Tandems based in Gargrave, North Yorkshire – they have been very good to Vision of Adventure in the past! They also do day hire/trial sessions.
Second hand bikes and general tandem information can be found at the Tandem Club.
