Here we provide answers to Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs) and provide more details about the charity and courses offered.
General Course Information
- Domestic Arrangements
All our accommodation is different. It can be dormitory style or twin rooms. Only rarely are single rooms available. If this is a priority for you please check with us before booking a course. All meals are included, we ask participants to help with setting tables, making packed lunches and clearing up where possible.
- Travel Arrangements
The course times are arranged to facilitate travel by train. Please check individual course details for the appropriate station.
- Guide Dogs
Guide dogs are welcome on most courses. Please check with us in advance.
If you are bringing your guide dog on a course there are a few things to bear in mind:
We can provide a dog bed, bowls and dog towels as it might be difficult for you to bring them (say) if you are travelling by train. Please let us know in advance.
Please clean up after your dog.
Dogs do not come out on activities with us (with the exception of rock climbing). They will be left at the accommodation. If we are out for any length of time we will arrange a volunteer dog sitter to walk them while we are out.
On all courses we are at the mercy of the weather! Please be aware that we may need to change plans, venues or activities on the day. However, we will always put safety first and while there are many things we can do they might not always be what you expect!
We aim to have an equal number of guides and visually impaired people on each course. The guides are volunteers and will have had some training. They are not experts in the activities and will be learning as well.
We provide all specialist equipment and clothing on each course. We will also tell what personal items of kit you need to bring yourself.
