Meet up Saturday March 28th, event on Sunday March 29
A great early season bike ride to blow away the cobwebs. Two interesting routes to choose from which take you through scenic roads with beautiful views of Howgills, Dent and Barbon. Both routes head generally south eastwards through Cumbria taking some very quiet valleys that you may be unaware of (unless you’ve done this sportive before of course!) as well as a few tasty climbs and some seriously quick descents. The short route is 34 miles, the long 55 miles. Entry fees are £20 for the short and £25 for the long, registration opens at 8.30am and start is at 9.30am.
Full details of the event are found here (opening in a new tab).
As part of the entry process you first have to register yourselves on the SiEntries events system if you haven’t already done this for a previous event! To register and then enter the sportive please visit this site (opening in a new tab).
This event will probably be based at Witherslack Cycle Barn. Accommodation is dormitory style with 2 or 3 to a room. The station for this event is Oxenholme.
Costs – in addition to the event entry fee (which VI’s need to do above)), there will be a £10 tandem hire fee and accomodation fees of around £30. Food will be self catered, we usually put £5 per person per night in the kitty and cook together.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to accommodate guide dogs.
We aim to meet mid afternoon on the Saturday. We can pick up from the railway station (exact timings nearer to the event), take you to the bikes for fit up and test ride before taking you to the accommodation.
On the Sunday morning we will drive back to the bikes before the 4 mile warm-up cycle to the event start. After the event it’s another 4 mile cool down before dropping the bikes off and driving back for a well earned rest.
If people need to get back we can drop you at the station on Sunday early evening. Otherwise we will stay at Witherslack for the night.
If you want to know more or book accommodation or tandems then please contact us.
